From the bridge over Chew Brook, looking East onto the skyline, you will see a duck shaped silhouette. This is the Duck Stone! Scattered around this landmark are a collection of boulders giving problems from "Easy peasy" to "OMG Desperate!". Made of very rough Kinder Grit, these boulders offer superb friction but can be harsh to soft hands.
The area is mainly West facing so it catches the sun from after midday and dries quickly due to it's exposed aspect. It can be approached from the car park in just 20 minutes by following the well trodden path up towards the Duckstone.
As this is not a mainstream climbing venue, care should be exercised near the tops where there is loose debris about.
Note: I will be incrementally adding more pictures and will give the boulders or areas their OS grid references.
The pictures were taken using an Olympus Mju 300 compact digital. They are all less than 2 mbytes.
