The Mala Fatra is perhaps one of Slovakia's best kept secrets. The mountain group rises from the north of the Vah river and reaches a height of 1709m. at Velky Krivan. There is a well developed system of chatas, mountain huts so multi-day hikes through the range is possible. It is seldom visited by foreign tourists. A chair lift in Vratna dolina provide the less energetic a way to the summits. There is also a well developed ski area there.

More information can be found here and here.
